Night Sailing
Boris Katz’s contribution to "Night Sailing" consists of a series of delicate, wall-mounted ceramic plates featuring intricate, hand-painted illustrations. Each plate functions as a small circular canvas, depicting whimsical yet thought-provoking imagery. Katz skillfully navigates between surreal fantasy and figurative realism, incorporating playful, dream-like figures, mythological motifs, and expressive human forms. The nuanced blue tones and meticulous detailing invite contemplation, evoking both intimacy and mystery.
The exhibition "Night Sailing" explores the poetic and metaphorical essence of night as a journey—a quiet voyage through subconscious imagery and introspective narratives. Featuring diverse mediums and artists, the exhibition offers a nuanced dialogue about the interplay between dream and reality, stillness and movement, comfort and unease, inviting viewers to reflect upon their own nocturnal voyages.
"Night Sailing" was a group exhibition held in 2017 at Makom Leomanut Gallery, Tel Aviv, curated by Shosh Averbuch.
