RECENSENDUM

"Recensendum" brings together two distinct yet resonant bodies of work in a visual dialogue between drawing and sculpture.

Sasha Okun’s stark, emotive portraits—based on observations in Shaare Zedek Medical Center—confront moments near the end of life, rendered with baroque intensity and theatrical presence. His figures, marked by anatomical exaggeration and heightened expressiveness, capture a suspended moment on the threshold between life and death, evoking both vulnerability and dignity.

Boris Katz presents a series of white ceramic sculptures that explore human passions and inner states through symbolic, meticulously crafted forms. With technical precision and psychological nuance, his allegorical portraits reflect the shifting landscapes of mood, desire, and instinct, offering a silent counterpart to the theatrical presence of Okun’s drawings.

Exhibited together within the same space, the works of Okun and Katz create a layered conversation—where silent sculptural figures and drawn protagonists echo, confront, and deepen one another’s presence.

The exhibition was held in 2024, at the Wild Gallery in Jerusalem and curated with insight and precision by Max Epstein.
